A New Phase

Updated: Jul 16, 2020

Today is a day of new beginnings, including a new role for me at El HaLev.

Ten years ago, I was given the privilege of stepping up into the role of CEO. It has been a tremendous honor to lead this organization, and to have been entrusted with the task of bringing El HaLev and its staff to the place it is today.

Following a decade of exciting and fulfilling work in this capacity, I am choosing to move on to my next challenges.

I’m eager to spend more time working on my memoir, creating online Empowerment Self Defense courses, and working with a fantastic team to finally build the life-saving app I’ve been dreaming about for a while.

I'm also looking forward to continuing my journey into the world of public speaking so that I can make sure that our message is heard.

Clearly, the work we are doing to create a global movement for violence prevention education with Empowerment Self Defense at its core is only at the beginning. This is where I will be focusing my time and energy for the foreseeable future.

I know that El HaLev is in great hands, with a stellar staff. I saw it as a baby and watched it grow, and then helped it through its cranky teenage years complete with growing pains.

I like the idea of being able to come in more like a grandparent. I can come in, teach a few classes, get to enjoy the grandchildren. I can’t wait to get to know the new instructors who haven’t heard tell the same story 25,000 times, and laugh while the older instructors finish my sentences.

I am really looking forward to this transition.

Thank you all for being right here with me.

We got this!
