ESD Builds Safer Communities

“In a reality where just about every woman has experienced attempted sexual assault, we have the tools to change this statistic. Prevention has to reach each and every one of us.”
Prevention has to reach each and every one of us.

Prevention needs to be on the top of our list for funding priorities. Yes, teaching children about consent, respect, and human rights is part of that. But by itself, it is not enough.
Violence festers in places where is there no resistance.
Places where fear and shame rule. And, in places where the perpetrators know that they can get away with it. Empowerment Self Defense is all about changing that. We are about building safer communities with roots in human rights and healthy behaviors.
We are about building safer communities with roots in human rights and healthy behaviors.
Where asking for consent is a given, and not “weird” or “uncomfortable,” and where consequences for inappropriate behavior is taken for granted.
Most importantly, we believe that all of this is absolutely possible.
