When I read this, I think to myself: “Think globally. Act locally.”
That’s what the Empowerment Self Defense Movement is all about.
We think globally: In the next 5 years, ESD Global Inc. will bring ESD instructors to every corner of the earth. ESD will become a worldwide resource, available to everyone, everywhere, regardless of “political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory.”
We act locally: ESD Global trains individuals regardless of their “race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.” The instructors we train in turn go on to teach members of their communities.
Why?
Because it doesn't get any more local than internalizing the belief that we have the right to defend our emotional and physical well-being. That we are capable. That we are equal. No more and no less than anyone else.

Disempowered people are not equal.
Intimidation, bullying, abuse, and violence are methods used to disempower people.
ESD training and violence prevention education empower people to stand up to injustice - no matter how big or how small.
In other words, Empowerment Self Defense creates equality.
